Chartres Pilgrimage

chers pèlerins,

The Chartres Pilgrimage is the largest traditionalist gathering of the year. Last year, nearly 20,000 young people walked a marathon a day for three days from the center of Paris to the greatest work of architecture in the world: Chartres Cathedral. Our S. Joseph "Custos Traditionis" group last year was the most multinational of the hundreds of chapters from around the globe. Fr. Withoos, our indefatigable chaplain, will accompany us for his 18th pilgrimage-and we'll be graced by a number of other confessors during the walk.

Our chapter has permission for 50 pilgrims. Please refer your friends, but spots are very limited, and thousands of pilgrims were turned away last year. For our chapter, this is an application process-not a guarantee. If accepted, we'll send you payment details to secure your spot, along with supplementary information. Please do not book flights until your application has been approved.

Remember that you will need to be in Paris by Friday night, the 22nd of May, at the latest, as the pilgrimage starts before dawn Saturday morning. We will walk three marathons together; lots of time to pray, fast, and feast.

Please take a moment to pray for the intercession of our patron, St. Joseph, the true Guardian of Tradition, for this year's pilgrims.

What’s included?

  • Start your pilgrimage spiritually grounded with TLM alongside your fellow pilgrims. (Church TBA)

  • Explore some of Paris's most historic churches before we hit the road.

  • Enjoy French culture and fellowship with a memorable riverside gathering and lesson.

  • Get all your burning questions answered about the journey ahead.

  • Enhance your experience with meditations and prayer resources we've put together ourselves, in addition to those of the pilgrimage.

  • We’ll handle camping accommodations, meals, hydration, and more. Traditional fasting-style meals are provided (baguettes, apples, soup), but we also supply sausages, cheeses, and spreads—no other chapter does this, and it creates a warm, communal spirit.

  • Celebrate the journey’s end with a shared meal in Chartres.

  • Conclude with a majestic Mass in the Chartres Cathedral crypt, followed by a grand picnic.

    • Flights and transportation to/from Paris

    • Lodging in Paris on Friday night (we’ll recommend options)

    • Lodging in Chartres on Monday night (we’ll also send recommendations)

    • Personal gear (sleeping bag, etc.—we’ll provide a detailed list)

Tithe for Tradition is proud to sponsor this initiative. A limited number of scholarships are available for those in need-don't let cost be the only obstacle to participating.
